Diamond Zoom Tutorial, Shipwrecked, by Les Mitchinson 18th March at 10am.
The loss of a naval vessel triggered a search to trace the career of a naval rating who served prior to the introduction of continuous service in 1853. Without service records a search involved using ships’ muster and pay books, allotment books, hospital records and Greenwich School admittance records in order to construct the man’s career and to identify those periods when he was working ashore and home with his family. One lucky attendee will win a copy of Bruno Pappalardo’s, Tracing Your Naval Ancestors.
