Monumental Inscriptions
The Parish Register Transcription Society has produced on microfiche the Institute's collection of Monumental Inscriptions. During the 1940's to 1960's, Cecil R Humphery-Smith was involved with the national work, led by the Society of Genealogists, to collect monumental inscriptions from graveyards. Much time was spent talking to school children and teachers about this important work and this led to many collections of MI's being transcribed by school children during their holidays.A large number were deposited with the SoG., but a substantial quantity have been held at IHGS. These are part of the Institute's collection. Published on MINI CD.
